***If you are a series runner competing for age group awards at the final run, please check the standing. If there is an error, please let us know immediately. We will not be able to make changes the two days prior to the event.
This is the final race of the series. The run is open to everyone whether you have run all six races or just want to run this one.
To be eligible for the final championship awards, runners must have participated in four of the seven races. Awards will be based on a point system (1st place 10 points, 2nd place 9 points, 3rd place 8 points through 10th place). In the event of a tie, age will be the tie breaker with the oldest individual winning. All age groups are based on the age of the runner at the end of the year. Awards will be presented at the final race at Nashotah Park September 28.
Series runners will receive a custom Wisconsin Trail Assail Series finishers medal.
The start is a traditional cross country start with the entire field toeing the line. At the gun, runners cross a 200M open field before heading out on the trail system. Over 90% of the race is through Nashotah Park's forests and past both Forest Lake and Grass Lake. The trails are wide and are groomed year round. At the finish, runners leave the trail for the last 100M open field sprint to the finish line. The 5K is one loop, 10K two loops and half marathon is 2.5 loops. Course maps can be downloaded by clicking on the link at the bottom of the page. The course may change slightly based on trail conditions.
We have added a 5K walk division which will follow the same course as the run.
Just because you asked.... we have added a 1/2 marathon to the final race.
The 1/2 marathon is 2.5 loop course with the first 2 loops being five miles each. The third loop follows the 5K / 10K course. However, we left out the largest hills on the half marathon loops. But just to make it fair, we put them back in on the final loop - course map located at the bottom of this page. Hey if it is was easy they would call it track.
There will be ample water stations on the course with both water, sports drink and GU. This event will have a 3 hour time limit and is chipped timed.
Spikes are permitted.
Elite runners with a sub 16 minute 5K CC or sub 15.15 road in 2012 race for free. Email the race director with your 2012 times and courses for a free code. Free entries are limited and at the discretion of the race director.
